The Reason Why Turbine Flow Meters Are Suitable For Small Diameter Pipelines

Turbine flowmeter is a commonly used flow testing device that measures the flow of liquid or gas through devices equipped with axial impellers, and is widely used in various industrial and commercial fields. In practical applications, turbine flow meters are often only suitable for small diameter pipelines and not for large diameter pipelines.

Turbine flow meters are only suitable for small diameter pipelines for the following reasons:

1. The flow rate of fluid in large diameter pipelines is very low.

In large-diameter pipelines, due to the large size of the pipeline, the flow velocity of the fluid inside the pipeline is relatively low. This means that the measuring impeller of the turbine flowmeter will be affected by changes in fluid flow rate, thereby affecting measurement accuracy. In small diameter pipelines, the flow rate is higher, the temperature and viscosity are lower, so the accuracy requirements for turbine flow meters are higher.

2. The turbine flowmeter has a larger size and is suitable for large-diameter pipelines.

In large-diameter pipelines, larger measurement impellers are required to adapt to the flow velocity of the fluid. This makes the structure of the turbine flowmeter more complex and more difficult to install and maintain.

3. The probability of mechanical failure is relatively high.

Due to the high pressure of liquid or gas flow in large-diameter pipelines, turbine flowmeters may face significant mechanical stress. This may damage the measuring impeller, thereby damaging the entire turbine flowmeter.

In summary, turbine flow meters are only suitable for small diameter pipelines, because when using large diameter pipelines, the measurement accuracy and reliability of turbine flow meters are greatly reduced due to changes in fluid flow rate, larger measurement impeller size, and higher mechanical pressure.
